Volume Converter
Convert between every volume unit — metric, US customary, imperial, and more.
About this tool
Volume is where unit confusion causes the most real-world mistakes, mostly because a "cup," a "gallon," or a "pint" quietly means a different amount depending on which country's system it comes from — a US gallon (3.785 L) and a UK imperial gallon (4.546 L) differ by nearly 20%, and US liquid and dry measures aren't the same as each other either. This converter keeps all of it separate and correctly labeled across 44 units: US and UK liquid measures, US dry measures (pints, quarts, gallons, pecks, and bushels), full cubic-unit conversions, and the specific culinary tablespoon sizes that trip people up most in recipes — the US tablespoon (14.79 mL), the metric tablespoon used across most of the world (15 mL), and the notably larger Australian tablespoon (20 mL), which is a genuinely common source of a recipe going wrong when it crosses borders.
Enter a value into either field and the other updates live; swap reverses the two units. Everything routes through liters as the common base, verified against known references — a US cup correctly comes out to 236.588 mL here, distinct from the different value a UK "cup" would imply if one existed as a standard unit, which it doesn't.
Dedicated pages for common pairs — liters to US gallons, US fluid ounces to milliliters, US cups to milliliters — are linked below with preloaded calculators. This runs as plain arithmetic in your browser; there's no external lookup and nothing about your conversions is recorded.
