Time Converter

Convert between every unit of time, from picoseconds to millennia.

About this tool

Time seems like the simplest unit category — everyone knows seconds, minutes, hours, days — until you need something slightly outside that everyday set: a "year" alone is ambiguous between a common year (365 days), a leap year (366), a Julian year (365.25, the astronomical convention), and the true average calendar year (365.2425 days), and each gives a meaningfully different answer once you're converting something like a project duration in months into total hours. This converter includes all of them, plus the smaller end of the scale that shows up in science and engineering — the shake (10 nanoseconds, from nuclear physics) and the svedberg (used in centrifugation) — down to a genuine curiosity at the extreme: Planck time, the smallest physically meaningful unit of time there is.

Type into either field and the other updates live; swap reverses direction. Every value converts through seconds as the common reference, so a chain like weeks to hours to minutes stays exact rather than drifting through compounded rounding.

The most commonly needed conversions — hours to minutes, days to hours, weeks to days — have dedicated pages linked below, each preloaded and paired with a quick reference table for a handful of common values. This runs as plain client-side arithmetic; there's no clock, calendar service, or external API involved, and nothing about what you convert is stored or transmitted anywhere.
