Image Metadata Remover

Every photo your phone or camera saves quietly carries a block of hidden metadata alongside the actual image — most notably GPS coordinates accurate to a few meters, but also the camera or phone model, lens, exposure settings, the exact date and time it was taken, and sometimes a device serial number or the name tied to the account that edited it. None of that shows up when you look at the picture, and most apps you send it through (email, messaging, cloud storage) pass it along untouched. Social platforms vary — some strip it, many don't, and you generally can't tell which without checking.

This tool removes it. Drop in a photo and it first shows you exactly what's embedded, grouped and labeled in plain language, so you know what you're actually getting rid of rather than stripping blind. Click "Download a clean copy" and it redraws the image onto a canvas and re-exports it — canvas never carries metadata through, so the output is clean by construction, not just clean of the fields this particular tool happens to recognize. That also means it works even on formats or metadata structures this tool can't fully parse and display.

One honest caveat: redrawing a JPEG re-compresses it, so there's a very small, usually invisible quality loss — this isn't a bit-for-bit lossless strip, it's a practical one. PNGs are unaffected, since PNG is lossless end to end. Everything runs locally in your browser; the photo is never uploaded, which is really the only trustworthy way to run a privacy tool that handles photos with your location in them.
